Palantir Developer
CGIPosition Description:
CGI is looking for a Palantir Foundry & Ontology Developer with strong, hands-on experience designing and delivering production-grade data solutions and ontology-driven applications on the Palantir Foundry platform.
The role will work closely with business, data, architecture, security, and delivery teams to translate operational needs into governed data pipelines, reusable ontology models, analytics, workflows, and user-facing applications. The successful candidate will combine practical engineering expertise with strong problem-solving, testing, documentation, and stakeholder communication skills.
This is a hybrid role and requires attendance at our downtown Toronto office and/or a client office a minimum of 3 days per week. This requirement may change at any time.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
- Foundry Solution Development: Design, build, test, deploy, and support end-to-end solutions using Palantir Foundry services and development tools.
- Data Engineering: Ingest, clean, transform, integrate, and curate data from multiple sources into reliable Foundry datasets and reusable data products.
- Pipeline Development: Build and maintain data pipelines using Pipeline Builder and code repositories, including branching, pull requests, testing, build management, scheduling, and operational monitoring.
- Ontology Design: Translate business concepts and operating processes into scalable ontology designs, including object types, properties, link types, backing datasets, object sets, and relationships.
- Ontology Implementation: Configure, enhance, and troubleshoot ontology-backed data pipelines while managing additive and destructive changes safely.
- Operational Workflows: Implement governed writeback, Actions, function-backed Actions, submission criteria, and security controls to support business workflows.
- Application Development: Develop ontology-aware applications and common operating views in Workshop using variables, object tables, filters, charts, maps, metric cards, object views, overlays, and multi-page navigation.
- Functions Development: Develop, unit test, publish, and integrate TypeScript functions for custom aggregations, derived columns, ontology edits, and application behavior.
- Analytics and Visualization: Create analyses and dashboards using Contour, Quiver, Object Explorer, Foundry Map, and time-series capabilities where appropriate to the use case.
- Data Lineage and Operations: Use Data Lineage to trace dependencies, assess downstream impact, visualize flows, manage builds and schedules, and support production troubleshooting.
- Quality Engineering: Apply coding standards, peer review, automated testing, version control, maintainable design, performance optimization, and defect-prevention practices.
- Security and Governance: Implement Foundry access controls, action security, data-handling standards, and auditable development practices in partnership with security and governance teams.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with product owners, domain experts, analysts, architects, and platform teams to refine requirements, demonstrate increments, document solutions, and support adoption.
-Production Support: Investigate data, pipeline, ontology, function, and application issues; perform root-cause analysis; and implement sustainable fixes.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
- Overall Experience: At least 5 years of software development, data engineering, analytics engineering, or enterprise application delivery experience, including at least 3 years of substantial hands-on Palantir Foundry development experience.
- Palantir Foundry: Demonstrated delivery experience across Foundry navigation, Projects & Files, Data Catalog, Data Lineage, dataset exploration, build management, and production support.
- Ontology Expertise: Strong hands-on expertise with Foundry ontology concepts and implementation, including backing datasets, object types, properties, link types, object sets, ontology-aware analysis, and lifecycle management.
- Ontology Pipelines: Experience preparing data sources, building ontology projects and transforms, documenting pipelines, configuring object and link types, and troubleshooting backing-dataset changes.
- Writeback and Actions: Proven experience implementing writeback datasets, ontology edits, Actions, function-backed Actions, parameters, submission criteria, and security.
- Data Pipelines: Strong experience designing, transforming, scheduling, maintaining, and troubleshooting Foundry data pipelines using Pipeline Builder and code-based approaches.
- Code Repositories: Hands-on experience with repository-based development, branching, pull requests, code review, reusable utilities, unit testing, commits, merges, and builds.
- Programming: Strong Python and SQL skills, plus hands-on TypeScript experience for Foundry Functions and ontology-related application logic.
- Foundry Functions: Experience creating, testing, publishing, and consuming custom aggregation functions, derived-column functions, and ontology edit functions.
- Workshop: Experience building production-ready Workshop modules using object set variables, object tables, filters, events, overlays, dashboards, maps, metric cards, Actions, and version control.
- Analytics Tools: Hands-on experience with Contour and Quiver for data exploration, transforms, aggregations, parameters, visualizations, object analysis, graph analysis, and time-series analysis.
- Data Modeling: Strong understanding of relational and object-centric data modeling, entity relationships, data quality, lineage, schema evolution, and reusable data-product design.
- Engineering Practices: Demonstrated use of Agile delivery, CI/CD concepts, source control, automated testing, coding standards, documentation, observability, and secure development practices.
- Communication Skills: Ability to explain complex data, ontology, and application concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders and convert business requirements into implementable designs.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to work independently, handle ambiguity, and deliver reliable solutions in a collaborative environment.
Assets
- Foundry Architecture: Understanding of Foundry architecture, open architecture concepts, interoperability layers, ontology hydration, activation, and operationalization.
- Integration Experience: Experience integrating Foundry with enterprise data platforms, APIs, cloud services, reporting tools, or downstream operational systems.
- Domain-Driven Design: Experience facilitating ontology design with domain experts and converting operational terminology into clear object, relationship, action, and application models.
- Geospatial Capabilities: Experience using Foundry Map with object sets, filters, linked-object searches, coordinates, shapes, layers, property-driven styling, and annotations.
- DevSecOps and Cloud: Exposure to enterprise DevSecOps practices and public cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.
- Leadership: Ability to mentor developers, conduct design and code reviews, establish reusable patterns, and contribute to Foundry engineering standards.
